La Canopée
Social Housing
2016-2021, Nantes, France
La Canopée is a development on l’Ile de Nantes that highlights the region’s relationship with the sky, earth, air and large open spaces, while affording the opportunity to live within the landscape.
The project seeks to explore and to extend the relationship between a living space and its environment. To do this, the architects used loggias of great height, terraces, gardens and balconies to produce a flexible housing concept in constant communication with the outdoor spaces of the city. The emphasis on the outdoors increases individual freedom while ensuring that residents can spontaneously participate in, and be part of, the city.
